They are effective because at the end of the day these are real issues and concerns. I found the first more effective because the guy just seem honest and real.

Though the ad is also a protectionist anti-trade ad and that alienates me personally. However again perception differs from reality and the perception is that NAFTA lead to a loss of US jobs overseas. NAFTA did no such thing. The bleed in jobs is due to other factors, some structural, others tied to loopholes in the tax code.

I found both of them effective.

Connecting Mc to Bush in the first one will reinforce the Ds message.

The most effective part of the message in the second:”They can just walk away from health care. We could lose our benefits”
