New McCain Ad — Lies and Sighs

The McCain campaign has released a new ad this morning using clips from last night’s Vice Presidential debate in St. Louis. The ad is a 60 second spot.

The ad does little for me frankly.

Mixed review here.

The first part of it was the same “s/he lied cr*p” that all campaigns use. Plus it gave Mc a chance to associate the O campaign with lots of “boogie men”.

I believe the last part was probably the most effective and for all I know, “the sigh” moment might help Mc with the PFB in the short run.

Sadly for McCain though, from now on the GE is going to be more about him and O and less about their VP choices.

I thought the message was good about pointing out a couple of Biden’s lies last night. But I have to say, the quality of the ad itself is a bit off. But I guess they don’t have the money to make really good, slick ads. I think that makes a difference. Then again, I’m a bit of a wonk in that area, so I may be wrong.

I agree with UNY, this is going to mostly be about O and M from now on. Palin will help keep that base I think, which is not a small thing. But it’s all about the top of the ticket and controlling the message. If it’s all about the economy, I think we’ll have O as pres. If it can be about other things, including by the way the planned push on health care from the O team, I think M has a good chance of coming back. And I still stick to my DT poll adjustment rules, if M tightens the race to within 5 or even a bit more in the battlegrounds, he wins. Speaking for me of course.

Good God, another lame one. Why even bother?

Their ad department has really gone south since their very creative ones earlier in the campaign.

The 527 ads from yesterday, now those are effective ads.
