New Planet Discovered

I have been meaning to cover more science news. Astronomers have discovered a new planet about the same size as Jupiter, it was announced today. The discovery was announced at an international astronomy conference at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. The planet, which has been given the less-than-romantic name CoRot-Exo-4b, was spotted by a European space mission. It forms part of the Monoceros constellation – the Unicorn – and lies about 3,000 light years from our solar system. Scientists believe that it is similar in composition to Jupiter. More from the Daily Mail.

There are now over 300 exoplanets (planets outside of our solar system).
