We will recognize Kosovo when Serbia does. Encourage Serbia to negotiate but this position only angered Russia. I put up a video on the Russian response from February when this all happened earlier.</description>

I&#039;d hoped that Canada&#039;s delay in recognizing Kosovo was because my government realized the claims to the region of the ethnic Albanian migrants were spurious.  Unfortunately, the Harper government also made their decision without understanding the historical context.  Even more embarrassingly, they adopted the EU&#039;s groundless claim that the Kosovo situation was a one-off that could not stand as precedent setting.</description>
