The Clinton campaign released a new ad today for West Virginia. And a new poll by ARI shows 66% to 23% lead over Obama in West Virginia but that margin is not really the story. While 13% of likely West Virginia Democratic voters will not support Senator Clinton no matter what, 45% of likely West Virginia Democratic voters will not support Senator Obama. I have been arguing for some time that Clinton supporters will desert the Democratic Party in droves if Obama is the nominee and this is further proof of that fact. President Clinton won West Virginia twice and had Gore carried West Virginia, Florida would not have mattered. Kerry lost West Virginia by an even wider margin than Gore. Clinton will carry West Virginia for the Democratic Party, Obama will not.
